Contradistrict

by Ben Jepson

From what district do you hail? Does it hum with the sounds of techno-gadgets and excess, or groan with the sounds of hunger and toil? Does the snow pile up softly on your district, drawing you out each morning to temporarily remove all worry and temporarily erase whatever world you come from?

In this design high rises meet hovels, black meets white and turns to grey.

A little more about the design if you are interested... The basic photo of the city that I started with was taken in South America where some sad looking brick homes were stacked up against the downtown core. The contrast was shocking. I thought that fit pretty well with the District vibe. I love a good grunge fade, so that was a must. I over exposed the photo and lessened the contrast to create a foggy atmospheric feel, definitely inspired by Asian art. And what's mellow black and white ski design without a shot of color? Hope you enjoy.

Clever concept and an ace of design. Nice!

these look great, amazing great graphic choice

I love the design on this. The texture on it is amazing!

sick graphic and the So Am city scape jives with the the ski name.

This design are fantastico!

I love this guy's work. I seem to remember him from last year's comp too. He's had several solid submissions. And he's obviously not letting up. Someone needs to hire this guy full time. Just saying. I love the urban transition feel, and the slight grittiness to it. It reminds me somewhat of the public enemies - which was a great line. This has it's own flare though. I'd love to stomp into these for a romp down the mountain.

wow look at that design

love it!

amazing! as always

Benny, you always have some seriously rockin amazing designs on your skis!
Shoot, I'd take these things hands down!!!

Really nice design Ben. Love it!

Killin' it here as always man.

neat, and I like the connection to district, but g3 already has a city picture ski: The Manhattan. (Yes, I know it is named after the couloir.)
