I decided to take a literal approach for my first design. When I think of “Highball” I can’t help but picture a scotch and soda on the rocks. I used this idea as my jumping-off point and framed about a quarter of my ski’s outline with a digitally manipulated image of an empty highball glass. From there, I began looking back on last year’s entries for inspiration when I suddenly realized that it was right in from of me the whole time… the Cold Smoke festival. I had been plagued nightly as to what I was going to put “inside” the glass, when I realized that all it needed was something as simple as “cold smoke”. To me, this design represents two of my favorite things about skiing: cold smoke powder, and après-ski. Cheers.
